PANJIM: The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the extension for accepting applications for regularisation of illegal structures by a month. The decision has been taken by circulating the cabinet note among ministers. The exact time frame of extension will be decided in the coming days.
The scheme gives people the opportunity to legalise illegal structures by paying taxes. It had ended on March 31 this year and Chief Minister had said that guidelines to legalise structures on comunidade and government land would be issued soon.
Revenue Department has received around 5000 to 6000 applications for regularisation.
In 2016, the Legislative Assembly had passed the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Bill, under which ‘genuine’ structures existing before February 28, 2014 would be considered for regularisation.
Regularisation of residential or commercial unauthorised construction in own property, or carried out by a co-owner with consent of other owners in a joint property, or dwelling houses by mundkar, construction on institutional land with proper consent, are being considered.
Constructions falling within protected forests, wildlife sanctuaries, no development zone, open spaces, public land, eco-sensitive zone, coastal regulation zone and khazan lands are not being entertained.
