Calangute ex-sarpanch remarks politically motivated: MLA

MAPUSA: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Monday refuted the allegations made by former sarpanch of Calangute Panchayat Joseph Sequeira saying he is frustrated and so making vague remarks.

“Allegations made by Joseph against Calangute Police, Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo, me and panchayat members are vague. He is frustrated, since he has lost the panchayat and MLA elections, filed a case against me at the State Election Commission and High Court saying that my election should be set aside and is fraudulent in which I have won,” the Calangute MLA said.

“Joseph is desperate and trying all his means. He has also filed a case against panchayat members at the State Election Commission and High Court for disqualification of the members,” the minister said.

Stating that the highest amount of drug is seized by the Calangute Police, Lobo further said, “One can check the report of last one year of all the police stations and compare it with Calangute Police Station. The Calangute police have seized highest amount of drugs. This government has acted, police have acted. If the police have failed to act than allegations can be made against the police, MLA and government.”
