Farmers to get financial aid for growing medicinal plants

PANJIM: The farmers interested in growing medicinal plants will get financial assistance from the Goa State Medicinal Plant Board (GSMPB).

The GSMPB has invited applications from the farmers interested in cultivating medicinal plants such as Stevia, Pipli and Konkum. 

As per the assistance, for Stevia cultivation financial support will be Rs 1.37 lakh per hectare upto 12.5 hectare of area. For Pipli and Kokum, the subsidy is Rs 0.27 lakh per ha upto total area of 20 ha. 

The last date for submitting the application is September 30. 

The farmers throughout the country are getting financial assistance by the AYUSH Ministry to encourage cultivation of herbs and other medicinal plants

Currently, 140 medicinal plants species have been prioritised for supporting cultivation throughout the country for which subsidy is provided to farmers.
