CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police have stepped up patrolling the areas under their limit making it a safer place for tourists; and the increased patrolling has led to rescue of children in danger.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that since October 1, the police have rescued three minor boys aged 7, 8 and 9 on Baga beach; they boys were found moving around without their guardians.
PI Dalvi said that mostly migrant children move on the beaches without their guardians, hence, are vulnerable to exploitation by anti-social elements.
The rescued three minor children have been lodged in Apna Ghar for safe custody and protection after obtaining orders from the Child Welfare Committee.
Dalvi said that he has written to the chairperson of Child Welfare Committee requesting her to conduct DNA examination of the persons claiming to be the parents of the children, before releasing them into their custody.
“The visitors/claimants information stored by your office will be very much necessary if any child trafficking incident comes to light as the persons visiting the rescued children in Apna Ghar will be the main suspects in any trafficking cases related to minor children,” Dalvi wrote in the letter.
