PANJIM: The Calangute and Saligao Congress Block Committees on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Bardez Deputy Collector Pundalik Korjuvekar demanding a rollback in hike of water tariffs, hike in electricity tariffs and sought uninterrupted flow of water and electricity supply. The Calangute block was led by former Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes and Yatish Naik led the Saligao block.
Calangute Block Congress Committee also submitted a memorandum to Power Minister Milind Naik and the chief electrical engineer of Electricity department demanding to roll back hike in electricity tariffs, enforce minimum meter charges and to get rid of all hidden charges like FPPCA and electricity duty.
Simultaneously the Saligao Block Committee submitted another memorandum to PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar along with PWD chief engineer requesting them to scrap the hike in water tariff and guarantee continuous supply of clean water.
The memorandum submitted to the PWD minister states: ‘Water supplied by PWD sometimes is muddy and unfit for domestic use. We seek proper water supply in Saligao, Sangolda, Guirim, Pilerne, Reis Magos and Nerul.”
