MARGAO: Congress General Secretary Joe Dias has called upon Congressmen from Velim block to brace up for a dharna in front of South Goa District Collectorate if the Parrikar government fails to implement the Food Security Bill in the State.
Addressing a meeting of the Velim Block Congress Committee on Saturday evening at the residence of former Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Dias took strong exception to the remarks made by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that the Food Security Bill sounds confusing. “The CM cannot stop people of Goa from enjoying the benefits of the Food Security Bill. If need be, we should be prepared to hold a dharna in Margao to protest against the government’s stand,” he said. Congress observer for Velim Constituency, Altinho Gomes, explained to the workers the salient features of the Food Security Bill.
