CANACONA: Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Prarthana Naik Gaonkar submitted her resignation to the Director of Municipal Administration on Tuesday as per the settlement worked out after the council members met the chief minister last week.
Addressing a press conference in her chamber, Gaonkar said that she is stepping down from the post of the chairperson in the larger interest of the Bhartiya Janta Party after being at the helm of affairs for nearly two years and three months.
As per the solution brokered by the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, she tendered her resignation to the Director of Municipal Administration on Tuesday, the Vice Chairperson Samita Dhuri in anticipation of her elevation to the chairpersons post had already submitted her resignation earlier.
