MAPUSA: Porvorim Police on Wednesday booked a Delhi native operating a store-cum-pharmacy for selling cannabis-based medicinal products and seized goods worth Rs 2.23 lakh.
According to Porvorim Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar, information was received Monday late evening that a store-cum-pharmacy is operating in a building close to the NH-66. Accordingly police visited the said store and found various medicinal products containing cannabis being displayed for sale.
Police said the staff could not produce any licence or permission to sell cannabis-based products in Goa.
Since the police did not find any permission for selling the cannabis based medicines/products in Goa from any authority, the Porvorim police seized all the products weighing approximately 7 kgs. The seized products, police said, were variety of gummies, churan/digestive powder, etc.
Police have registered an offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of NDPS Act, 1985 against the owner of the store cum pharmacy.
The raiding team was supervised by SP North Shobit Saxena, SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and consisted of PI Anant Gaonkar, PSI Sitaram Malik, head constable Sandeep Parab, constables Utkarsh Dessai and Neha Desai.
Further investigation is in progress.
