Cansaulim locals call for registration of tenants

In view of the recent hide out of Manipuri insurgents in Cansaulim, the villagers on Sunday unanimously resolved that the tenants should register themselves with Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Panchayat.
The villagers at the gram sabha passed a resolution stating that all tenants in the village should be registered in the office of the village panchayat within one month of taking residency in the village. Subsequently, the village panchayat is expected to forward these names to Verna Police station for verification of the tenants’ antecedents. Failure to comply with this requirement would attract appropriate fine from the panchayat on the resident housing the tenants.
The village panchayat has to be aided in the exercise by panchas and members of respective wards.
Another resolution, proposed by Sheela Gracias and seconded by Dr Marconi Correia, objected to the inclusion of Cansaulim Arossim Cuelim Panchayat in non Planning and Development Authority, Outline Development Plan (ODP) areas as per the notified RP 2021.
As an exercise of bottom to top participatory process of marking the water bodies, public utility infrastructure like roads public drinking wells, sports facilities, the two railway lines, etc, were all shown on the village plan.
However, commotion erupted over the issue of restrictions of mega hotel projects, which forced Sarpanch Minguel D’Costa to adjourn the gram sabha to a future date.
