The no-confidence motion by panchas Casandra Almeida, Ratnadeep Naik, Savio Dias, Philomena D’Mello and Deputy Sarpanch Bailon Gomes against Cardozo will be taken up on November 3, at 10.30 am.
In an email to Herald, Cardozo refuted all the charges against her. On the garbage issue, Cardozo said, “Dy Sarpanch Bailon Gomes initially submitted a proposal of waste management with a total expenditure of about Rs 7.80 lakh per annum, whereas the annual expenditure of the panchayat on the garbage management had never crossed Rs 4 lakh, and the proposal did not find favour with the government.”
Regarding payments to contractors, Cardozo maintained that all procedures were followed and the accounts books were open to the auditors/vigilance for verification.
Regarding the file on the hotel project, the sarpanch maintained that the file could not be listed in the agenda since the agenda for the fortnightly meeting was circulated to the members. However all the members were orally informed that the file was received in the panchayat and were requested to go through it, she said..
