PANJIM: The Captain of Ports today filed a criminal complaint against the Mormugao Port Trust in connection with the Pratibha Bhima vessel which was anchored at Panjim port in September.
In his complaint before the Panjim police, Ports Captain James Braganza alleged that the vessel has been shifted by MPT in an unsafe manner and that it contains combustible and inflammatory substances.
With MPT Chairman, deputy conservator of ports (MPT) and owners of the vessel named in the complaint, Braganza has said the vessel anchored at the Panjim port is causing safety concern for the public and obstructing the navigational movement.
It is learnt that the vessel was shifted to Panjim port without prior permission of the CoP. The concerned authorities there had also violated the provisions of the National Disaster Management Act, which was highlighted by the CoP.
Panjim police have registered an offense under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is underway.
