VASCO: A major accident was reported between a car and a tempo on the new Zuari bridge on Thursday. However, occupants of both the vehicles had a miraculous escape.
According to the Verna Police, the accident occurred at around 1.30 pm.
Nikhil Agarwadekar (28), a resident of Mapusa, was travelling towards Panjim in his car. When he reached the bridge, he lost control and his vehicle hit the divider, crossed over to the opposite of the road and hit a tempo coming in the opposite direction.
The tempo was being driven by Prakash Raul (48), a native of Sawantwadi.
“Despite the severity of the collision, both drivers escaped with minor injuries. The accident also damaged a lamp post. Fortunately, there was no much traffic at the time of the accident,” a police official attached to Verna Police Station said.
Both,Agarwadekar and Raul were sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said it was a miracle that both the drivers survived with only minor injuries.
