PONDA: The election for the vacant post of Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) chairperson is scheduled for Friday, July 19.
It is almost certain that Councillor Anand Naik, who filed the lone nomination for the position, will be elected unopposed as PMC chairperson. The formal announcement will be made on Friday. Naik submitted his candidature to PMC chief officer Yogiraj Gosavi in the presence of former chairperson Ritesh Naik, councillors, and supporters.

The election process will commence at 10 am, on Friday, and Ponda Deputy Collector Shubham Naik will serve as the election officer.
It may be recalled that the post fell vacant after chairperson Ritesh Naik, son of minister Ravi Naik resigned from the post after a year.
