QUEPEM: A loaded 16-tyre cargo truck lost control on the sharp turn on the highway and fell on one side of the road at Dhadem-Sanvordem. No one was injured or killed in the accident.
Locals present at the scene said that the accident happened around 5 am, on Sunday, when a heavy truck which was carrying pig iron ore, lost control.
Locals informed that the truck driver had stopped on the sharp turn seeing an oncoming vehicle in its way.
Sanvordem Panch Shashikant Naik who was present at the spot on Sunday evening said that there is a sharp turn on this road at Dhadem-Sanvordem, and there have been many such terrible accidents in the past. The sharp turn where the road is narrow leads to many accidents.
“The Public Works Department has not bothered to widen this road or improve the sharp turn despite the accidents,” said Naik.
“This is a very serious issue regarding safety and security on the road,” he added.
Naik said that this should not happen again and the PWD needs to look into it as soon as possible for the safety of the road users.
