CARMONA: Reacting to the recent news report published on Herald titled “CVC questions panchayat’s role towards Carmona farmers” that was published on July 13, Carmona Panchayat Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge on Thursday said the panchayat will write to the Carmona Villagers’ Committee (CVC) President Blair Rodrigues about the issues raised so as to conduct an immediate site inspection and take appropriate corrective measures.

Carmona Sarpanch Jorge said, “The above news item published in the Herald dated July 13 has been brought to my attention and which deserves a clarification from my office. This office will write to the CVC President Blair to provide details in writing about the issues of the Carmona farmers raised in the news item so that this office can hold an immediate site inspection and take appropriate corrective measures. The Carmona panchayat had dedicated a fortnight concerning public grievances but till date, no such grievance has been received by this office from the farmers concerned.”
“As far as the beach issue is concerned, the panchayat has already resolved to file a case in the High Court but is awaiting certain documents/maps as per the advocate’s advice which Blair is aware. As far as garbage dumping is concerned, shifting the material RF to an alternate site is on our agenda as the present site is only a temporary measure used for storing, sorting, segregation and treatment of dry waste, including diapers. Once we receive the confirmation of development of twin projects of football ground and Sports upgradation project by GSIDC, we will do the needful by consulting all the people and taking into account their views,” he added.
“The temporary MRF serves the entire village and is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness under the panchayat’s ‘Clean and Green Carmona’ initiative and the media is invited for a site inspection to verify the allegations in the news report,” Jorge stated.
