Mahila Cong to demand quota for coming Assembly elections

MARGAO: National Coordinator of All India Mahila Congress Committee Dr Seema Fernandes on Thursday stated Mahila Congress will definitely demand for the consideration of Mahila candidate at the coming Assembly elections in the State.

Speaking to the media persons, here, Dr Seema said Mahila Committee will prepare a list of desired and capable mahila candidates and will be submitted to the State Congress leaders. 

“Mahila Congress will stick to the demand of 33 per cent reservation to women, however, it will be up to the Congress leaders of Goa to decide for whom to give the tickets,” she stated. 

Dr Seema said capability and winnability factors will be taken into consideration before finalising the list of women candidates for the coming Assembly elections. However, we will stick to the demand of reservation for women in next elections and the party has to give women a chance to contest. 

While addressing the Margao Women Block, here, Dr Seema appealed to reach out to all women of respective constituencies in order to convince them to support the Congress.
