CARMONA: The officials of the PWD (Roads) and the Carmona panchayat on Thursday conducted a joint site inspection to tackle the issue of flooding of private properties in Ankur Luis ward during the monsoon.

PWD Sub-Division-IV Works Division-VI Junior Engineer (JE) Gauresh Naik along with the Carmona sarpanch Allwyn Jorge inspected the site to find a solution to the perennial problem due to PWD’s faulty drainage design.

It may be recalled that an affected Carmona resident Balthazar Luis had appealed to the Grievance Cell of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) regarding the matter resulting in this site being previously inspected by the PWD officials following which the Carmona panchayat had written to the department urging it to take corrective measures regarding ‘the various problems of flooding faced by the residents of the ward due to reverse flow of rainwater due to faulty and unplanned drainage built by PWD near Franky Furtado house in Xethmalem ward.’

Speaking to the media persons, the sarpanch said, “The joint site inspection was attended by a large number of locals who suffer due to this manmade phenomenon and the PWD was asked to reconstruct the drainage.”
