PANJIM: The CB has registered an offence under sections 228 (A) of the Indian Penal Code and 66 (A) of the Information Technology Act against unknown person/s for circulating an email of the victim to others.
The victim’s formal complaint to the Goa CB reached on Friday wherein she alleged that an abusive email with her photograph which had a superficial black strip covering her eyes was being circulated all over. She has suspected close associates of Tejpal of circulating the mails to malign her image.
“I have remained silent against this campaign of slander and vilification, although it has caused me hurt and trauma because I have full faith in the legal process and respect its sanctity… It is being presented completely out of context along with several malicious comments about by appearance and veracity of my complaint…This email clearly discloses my identity and seeks to deny me the protection granted by law, by encouraging a wide dissemination of the content of the same,” the girl said.
The victim has said that the photograph which was available on Tehelka server has been circulated, illegally and without her consent, via email to several members of the society, including senior media persons. Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr O P Mishra said the case has been registered against unknown persons.
