PANJIM: Panjim Police have registered a case of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against three persons in the death of a 21-year-old woman last month.
An FIR has been registered against victim Suman Gaudar’s husband Mahesh (26) and in-laws Gundappa and Laxmibai.
Panjim police that earlier registered a case of suicide, booked fresh offences against the trio based on a complaint filed by Deputy Collector Pundalik Khorjuvekar who conducted an inquiry into the death. Since her death was within seven years of marriage, the sub divisional officer conducted an inquiry.
His report indicted the trio for having “harassed and caused mental torture and subjected the victim to cruelty by abusing her due to which she committed suicide.”
