PANJIM: The casino group Deltin and United Beverages ~ the makers of Kingfisher beer — are among the major sponsors of International Film Festival of India 2013, officials said Friday.
The festival also has 16 other minor sponsors.
Despite the opposition to offshore casinos in the Mandovi and beer being sold in government promises, the Deltin Group, which owns Deltin Royale and Deltin Jack and Kingfisher will support the film festival in cash and kind.
According to the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) vice chairman Vishnu Surya Wagh, the overall sponsorship stands at Rs 47 lakh in cash and more than Rs 2 crore in kind. The estimated budget of IFFI 2013 is approximately Rs 10 crore.
The other sponsors are Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Cidade de Goa, 98.3 Radio Mirchi, Nestle India Limited, Inox Leisure Ltd, Kala Academy, Bank of India, State Bank of India, Qatar Airways, The Lalit, The Crown, Aquaspice, Salgaokar Sanchar and Gomantak Publications.
While the delegate target this year is 15,000, till Friday evening 10,019 delegates have registered.
The hangar being built for the opening and closing ceremony on football ground near Kala Academy will be ready by November 17, says Wagh. This venue will have a seating capacity of 3500.
