PANJIM: Corporation City of Panjim (CCP) on Thursday adopted the plinth area rates of PWD of August 2016, at the meeting of corporators.
CCP Commissioner Ajit Roy said it is an important decision that is going to be in force in the State’s capital from January 1, 2018.
The CAG in its report for the year ended March 2016, and referring to CCP’s inefficiency, stated that no tangible action was taken to collect rent and evict the municipal property at Panjim from illegal occupation and that had deprived the CCP of revenue of Rs 4.28 crore in respect of 296 shops.
CAG had also taken exception to CCP’s inability to check illegal occupation of municipal land. The report stated that land measuring 1594 sq mts continued to be under illegal occupation in Panjim that has resulted in loss of revenue of Rs 2.16 crore in the shape of rent to the CCP.
The Corporation has also decided not to issue new trade licences in non-commercial zones. The Commissioner said that existing licenses would be renewed while new licences would be issued based on the zoning. “All new trade licenses would be issued based on zoning and wherever it is permissible and within framework of guidelines,” Commissioner said.
