PANJIM: The government is responsible for delay in projects by not acceding to the CCP’s repeated letters to expedite necessary changes in the bylaws as sought by CCP.
Reacting to Herald’s news report on how 13 projects are stalled on account of the CCP not granting its clearance, CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado said that the problem would be resolved faster if the government paid more attention to the problem.
“Unless the bylaws are amended to change the rules of parking for commercial constructions, we will not be giving clearances. I have written two letters to the North Goa Planning and Development Authority asking them to look into the matter. But there is neither response nor action from them. What is the government doing?” Furtado asked.
Herald had reported how the CCP’s decision taken two years ago, continues to be in force for commercial and part commercial projects, has left around 13 projects in limbo. Consequently the prices of commercial space in Panjim have gone up, on account of the non availability of new spaces.
