CCP meeting to discuss Cine National issue

PANJIM: A special meeting of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) has been convened at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 13 to discuss and approve the proposal submitted by the management of Cine National and to approve the signing of lease agreement with the traders in Panjim municipal market.

During the last meeting, the councilors had vehemently opposed to give the land to the Cine National without any concrete proposals and had demanded to defer the agenda and to convene a special meeting to discuss it.  According to CCP sources, the Cine National proprietor Rao & Company has now submitted a proposal to the Corporation stating that they are in occupation of the land since 1933 and built cinema/theatre in 1933 called as “Eden” exhibiting films for the entertainment of the public.
