PANJIM: The signing of lease agreement between the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and tenants in the new municipal market is likely to be executed in the next two months, CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate said.
He informed that the Corporation has forwarded the proposal to the Urban Development Department and sought approval to execute the lease agreement with market tenants.
“We have forwarded the proposal to the Urban Development Department and they will send it to the Law Department for legal vetting. The Law Department after examining will give its nod and it will be sent back to the Urban Development Department thereafter it will come to us. I think from now, within next two months time we will be able to execute the lease agreements with the market tenants,” Monserrate said.
“For the last two years we have held a series of meetings with the market tenants and we have cleared their doubts, and also considered their demand to have lease agreement instead of leave and licence agreement. At the time of signing of lease agreement we have to recover outstanding dues to the tune of Rs 25 crore,” he added.
The CCP Mayor said that the lease agreement will be signed with the tenants, whose names are in the list of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) adding that the Corporation will initiate legal action against those who refuse to sign the lease agreement.
