PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) On Monday began the demolition of the illegal second floor of a commercial showroom in Panjim located on M G Road, opposite Captain of Ports.
The demolition took place following directions to the staff by CCP Commissioner. The drive was carried out in the presence of police, CCP officials and Revenue officials.
It may be recalled that CCP had first passed the order for the demolition in 2009.
However, the matter got delayed for more than a decade as the matter was challenged before the State Urban Development Department then the High Court and finally the Supreme Court.
After the appellate authority set aside the demolition order in 2010, CCP had approached the High Court, which found the CCP’s order to be legal and proper and warranted no interference from an appellate authority.
