Centre grants Rs 75 crore for Tuem Electronic City

PANJIM: Barely two months from the State Assembly elections, the Central government has sanctioned a whopping Rs 75 crore to set up the Electronic City at Tuem in Pernem. The Narendra Modi government granted Rs 25 crore more than the proposed financial assistance of Rs 50 crore sought for the project that envisages employment for Goans.

PANJIM: Barely two months from the State Assembly elections, the Central government has sanctioned a whopping Rs 75 crore to set up the Electronic City at Tuem in Pernem. The Narendra Modi government granted Rs 25 crore more than the proposed financial assistance of Rs 50 crore sought for the project that envisages employment for Goans. 
“In a meeting in Delhi last weekend, the Centre has approved financial assistance of Rs 75 crore for setting up electronic city in the State. We are expected to receive official (sanction) letter in the next couple of days,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said on Monday.
Moreover, in an attempt to generate employment for the younger generation, the CM added that the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) has sanctioned 134 projects in the last two years, of which 16 industries are ready and four have begun operations.
“Goa government is serious towards uplifting the State in the IT and Cyberage sectors. We are nonetheless IT and cyber literate. Our proposals to the Centre for Electronic City at Tuem and IT hub at Chimbel are a move to foster employment. This will change the lives of our youth,” he said, adding that IPB has the potential to create 23,384 job avenues.
