PONDA: The Children of Freedom Fighters Association (CFFA) on Sunday declared that it will stage a dharna on October 27, at Azad Maidan, Panjim, to protest against the government’s failure to deliver the promise of providing government jobs to children of freedom fighters.

Addressing the media persons at Querim, here, CFFA President Shivaji Shet said, “Children of freedom fighters want government to fulfil promise of jobs assurance given to them by the government when they staged dharna few months ago.”

The children of freedom fighters had gathered at the residence of freedom fighter late Nagesh Chari, at Querim, who passed away on October 4, to pay condolences to the family.

Shet expressed grief over the death of former freedom fighter and said that he had actively participated in their dharna at Azad Maidan to support their demands. Late freedom fighter Chari has four children including three daughters and one son Babu.

He demanded with the government to provide job to his son Babu immediately, who is unemployed and struggling for livelihood.

Further, he said, “The government after giving promise provided jobs to only 23 out of total 247 unemployed children. The record is with the government.”
