MARGAO: Residents of Chandor on Wednesday submitted two applications to pursue the assurance given to them on Tuesday by Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardessai that following the notification of Regional Plan 2021 no State highway would be passing through their village.
An application under the Right to Information Act has been made to the Public Information Officer at Town and Country Planning Department asking for the alignment of the State Highway No 8 primarily because it was the Town and Country Planning Department that had written to the Excise Department last year that the highway was passing from Davorlim to San Jose de Areal to Curtorim via Ramnagari to Guirdolim to Chandor and to Curchorem.
Besides, a separate letter has been addressed to Vijai Sardessai asking for withdrawal of the letter written by then Chief Town Planner S T Putturaju stating that the State Highway 8 was shown passing through the village of Chandor as per the 2001 and 2021 Regional Plans.
Besides, a copy of the application made under RTI to the Town and Country Planning Department is also submitted to Vijai.
