MARGAO: Chandor-Cavorim Sarpanch Edward D’Silva issued a notice on Tuesday asking people to segregate their waste while handing it over to the panchayat and lamented that many people are still giving mixed garbage which has to be manually separated by the panchayat.
He pointed out that the panchayat does not collect wet waste and hence asked people not to give wet waste mixed with the dry waste.
“Very often pampers and sanitary napkins are also given mixed with the waste and the dogs destroy these causing a real messy situation for the panchayat workers,” lamented D’Silva.
The panchayat also collects medical waste provided it is given separately and this waste is generally collected after the quarantine period of the COVID patient is over.
