MARGAO: The issue of garbage dumping at public places again figured at Chichinim-Deussua gram sabha held on Sunday, Feb 24 with members demanding assurance that panchayat body shall act by filing police complaint against those involved in the illegal act.
Sarpanch Antonio A Sequeira in reply to the demand by the members assured to file police complaint against those involved in the act when caught and even if brought to panchayat notice by locals.
Earlier a senior gram sabha member lamented that he witnessed women in particular dropping garbage in plastic bags near Orlim bridge and complained that when it was brought to notice of panchayat no action to have been taken. Locals also accused police of failing to take action when complaint made.
Agnelo Furtado informed that the club shall be holding a meeting on garbage disposal on March 17 at 9.30 am which will be attended by the environment minister Alina Saldanha and called on villagers to participate in same to bring about solution to garbage problem in village.
