PANJIM: Chief Election Officer Kunal has welcomed an audit or scrutiny by the government into the expenditure incurred by them during the State Assembly elections held in February.
“Election Department is the most transparent. We are open for audit or scrutiny by anyone,” Kunal told media persons reacting to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar recommending an audit into the whopping expenditure incurred by CEO during the Assembly election.
Parrikar had said that CEO has submitted a bill of Rs 16.86 crore towards hiring of vehicles for 15 days during the election period.
“While hiring vehicles or conducting any other expenditure, we have followed the due procedure and the guidelines laid down by the ECI. We are clean on it,” Kunal said.
CEO stated that the final compilation of expenditure is in process and only then will be position to comment.
