PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant boasted of massive developmental works carried out by the double engine sarkar as the current government completed 100 days on July 6. Sawant, in his second term as Chief Minister, claimed that Goa has witnessed development across sectors like never before.
At a State-organised function held at the Goa Assembly Complex in Porvorim, CM Sawant said that the government is taking bold steps to ensure good governance reaches the people while citing some tough decisions to crack down on the illegalities right from the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into land scams to raids on illegal spas and massage parlours, etc.
“We have ensured the State and Central benefits reach out to the people. In the last 10 years of BJP government in Goa and eight years at the Centre, the double engine sarkar has carried out massive human and infrastructural development,” he added.
Minister for Panchayats, Mauvin Godinho, in his address, said that 100 days have set the pace for a journey of good governance and that the people of Goa gave this government a mandate to come to power for the second time.
He said that the current cabinet is a balanced one comprising of dynamic ministers both young and experienced. The minister also urged the people of Goa to not object to government projects as these are being introduced for further development of Goa and the local population. “We cannot say no to every project. On one hand, people complain of brain drain, on the other hand, we are opposing projects which will create job opportunities for the locals. We have to support developmental works come up by protecting the environment,” he said.
The CM also handed over sanads to 100 persons under Forest Right Claims and assured that 50 per cent of the total 10,000 approx applications will be cleared in the coming days.
He also launched Public Grievance Portal which will soon be operational round the clock. An SMS intimation system was also launched where beneficiaries of 3 schemes will be intimated via SMS regarding payments credited to their account under the scheme and more such schemes will be added shortly.
He also announced setting up Data Analytics Cell for better coordination among departments.
