Chikungunya detected at Bicholim

MAYEM, JUNE 24 Two cases of persons have been detected with Chikungunya at the Bicholim Primary Health Centre. According to Health Officer Dr Shivram Lotlikar, two patients from Tirthbag-Mayem were detected with Chikungunya at a casual check up at PHC Bicholim.

Two cases of persons have been detected with Chikungunya at the Bicholim Primary Health Centre.
According to Health Officer Dr Shivram Lotlikar, two patients from Tirthbag-Mayem were detected with Chikungunya at a casual check up at PHC Bicholim.
“PHC has taken due precaution to prevent the spread of disease further by spraying pesticides and delivering the required medicines,” stated Dr Lotlikar.
Dr Lotlikar further informed that two patients, a man and a woman, are presently undergoing treatment at PHC Bicholim and due precaution has been taken in Tirthbag area to prevent the spread of the disease.
“A joint meeting of panchayat members was also held in which awareness camp was organized. A blood check up camp was also organized and free medicines were distributed,” said Dr Lotlikar.
Meanwhile, residents of Bicholim have requested Bicholim Municipal Council to undertake sanitation of stagnated gutters to prevent mosquito menace.
Dr Lotlikar has once again called upon the builders lobby to conduct routine check up of their workers to prevent the spread of different diseases and also informed them to take due precautions to keep the building sites clean.
