MARGAO: In a significant development, the Sarpanch of Chinchinim-Deussua village panchayat, Valentino Barretto, announced that he had submitted his resignation to the post, during the gram sabha meeting held on Sunday, Barreto added that this announcement was made on a happy note to the villagers, and it was about him sticking to the commitment he had made at the time of becoming the Sarpanch, about a seat-sharing arrangement with the other panch members for the said post.
Incidentally, one of the issues he had recently taken up as the Sarpanch, was also discussed at the gram sabha meeting. Barreto pointed out that the locals are unhappy with the frequent power cuts and he recounted how the panchayat had met with the Power Department engineer concerned to address this issue.
