MARGAO: After nearly a decade and a half, the Chinchinim
panchayat ghar cum multipurpose complex is finally taking off
with the government granting administrative approval for Phase-1 of the project.
The Directorate of Panchayats has informed the Chinchinim – Deussua village panchayat that the administrative approval has been sent to Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), which will be executing the project.
While addressing media persons, the Sarpanch Valentino Barretto along with other panch members first thanked all the stakeholders who were involved in working for this project and getting it cleared including Velim MLA Cruz Silva.
Barretto added that it is the ‘people’s plan’ that they would be implementing.
He added that the first phase of the project comprises of the Administrative building, which would have a panchayat ghar, post office, electricity department office, community hall and other allied offices
The project cost is nearly Rs 13 crore and it is awaiting final sanction from the Finance Department, which the panchayat is confident of getting given their correspondence with the authorities concerned including the Chief Minister on this issue.
Barretto added that land for this project had been acquired in 2007 and that the earlier delays were due to administrative lapses and poor coordination between government departments.
