A serious problem for motorists in Ponda Taluka

Stray cattle menace has become a serious problem in the village of Adpai, in Ponda. The cattle proceed along the road not only during the daytime but even at night. Very often the bovines have been sitting adjacent to the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd and also near the premises of the Village Panchayat of Adpai-Durbhat.

At times, the cattle also occupy the road near Shree Datta Mantap and also at ‘Dessai-Bhat’ area. The commuters and pedestrians face great inconvenience in the process. Their precious lives have been subjected to great risk and danger. Over the years this serious matter has remained neglected.

The VP of Adpai-Durbhat as a competent authority has not built cattle pounds till date. Hence, impounding stray cattle has become a difficult task. Considering the dangerous situation faced by public at large, it was necessary for this village panchayat to initiate prompt favourable action so as to assure safety to the commuters and pedestrians. However, the matter has remained neglected. The local MLA at this jurisdiction Sudin Dhavalikar should consider this matter sympathetically and guide the elected members at the VP of Adpai-Durbhat accordingly so as to tackle this ever-growing menace on a war footing.

The Directorate of Panchayats on its part should take a serious note of mishaps taking place at different locations due to this growing menace and issue a fresh circular for the village panchayats that have failed to tackle this menace. Such panchayats should be requested to build cattle pounds on priority basis and impound cattle found either sitting or moving freely on the road.
