MARGAO: The structure where around 100+ staff function has developed cracks on the beam and the ceiling is leaking. The wall on which the main electrical box is installed is damp. The canteen within the structure has already been evacuated and shut down.
Herald spoke to the staff of KTC terminus who claimed the senior officials were aware of this and are waiting for the new ktc terminus to be constructed. However in the mean time, there is no action taken to ensure the safety of the staff in the short term.
According to a civil engineer from Fatorda, the building is unfit. He said the building is extremely unsafe and could collapse at any moment
“And due to rains the soaking wet water is going to add weight on to the beams and columns are not safe. The walls may get weak depending upon the type of material used. Coming to the electrical you can have a major short circuit or even if there is a leak in current it can travel due to the unsafe conditions and it can be fatal” , he said.
