The Assembly election manifesto of most parties was that the Aldona Police Outpost will be upgraded to a full-fledge Police Station. But, till date it is still functions as an outpost.
Aldona village jurisdiction has a large population, and now the migrants’ influx entering the State have taken shelter in all villages and the population has increased. The present outpost is insufficient to solve the grievances of the Aldona Constituency.
The outpost is headed by a Head Constable (HC) cum Investigating Officer (IO) and there are some other constables of lower ranks to assist, and in case of any emergency Mapusa Police are called.
For an example – if one makes a complaint, both the parties are called for an inquiry – when IO finds it difficult to solve the case, both parties are sent to Mapusa Police Station in a jeep. At Mapusa, in the case a spot inquiry may be held or may given next date to come. The people have to report to the Outpost and then also to the Mapusa Police Station. Is this not an embarrassment to the people to visit both places!
The concerned authority should decide on this matter to give a full-fledged status of a Police Station to the Outpost, and if not, then the very need to upgrade the outpost by appointing head of a rank of Sub-Inspector and competent Investigating Officer (IO) so that all the cases are solved and end up at one place.
I request the Aldona MLA and the top brass of the Goa Police to look and decide on the matter positively.
