Assure proper signboards along the Ponda roadsides

Traffic signboards play a significant role in guiding innocent travellers proceeding along various locations. They prove beneficial in assuring safety to precious human lives. In Ponda, it is rather unfortunate that signboards which were installed at some locations in the initial stages have been presently found missing from the concerned spots.
For instance, two signboards mentioning ‘No Parking’ adjacent to the petrol pump at old bus-stand (in Ponda) have not yet been replaced with alternate ones. Hence, people park their vehicles here with great ease. Fellow travellers face great inconvenience in the process. Even near the sharp turn adjacent to the Public Works Department (PWD-Water Division) at Daag, the signboard mentioning ‘Dead Slow’ has been found missing from the scene long back. Besides, some of the signboards exist in a dilapidated condition thereby failing to serve their basis purpose.
The signboard mentioning ‘No Parking’ adjacent to municipal garden is one such instance. (The enclosed picture clearly depicts this fact). Alphabets and also the red strips on this signboard have disappeared.
Further, signboards that were installed on either side of the sharp turn near Sneha Mandir at Bandora have not been replaced till date. This being a most critical location, there is every possibility of mishaps taking place sooner or later.
Last and not the least, a signboard indicating existence of a speed-breaker along the main road near KTC bus stand was recently found lying over the ground in an overturned condition.
It is time for the concerned authorities to take a note of above important matter and initiate prompt favorable action to improve the existing dangerous situation at different locations.
Providing facelift to dilapidated signboards and also replacing the missing signboards with alternate ones would definitely provide relief to innocent travellers while proceeding along the concerned routes.
Of course, this would also go a long way in reducing deaths on Goan the roads. Let us hope that immediate positive steps would be initiated in this regard so that travellers are assured safety on a permanent basis.
