On December 7, 2022, the Herald had published the iron barricades wrongly placed after the Zebra Crossing at the Panjim market bus stop.
In the Citizen Herald column of December 26, there was a photo that showed the wide gap between the iron barricades being used by two-wheelers to ride across the road and over the flattened and/or the missing cement dividers.
Instead of rectifying the issues, the authorities took an easy way out and removed all the barricades and now even four-wheelers can drive across the roads! The barricades were useful since the traffic was regulated to some extent and people could cross the road. To add to the misery, the show piece traffic signal at the bus stop is yet to be commissioned even after being installed a few months back. Perhaps we need to wait for a dignitary to do the honours.
