The KTC bus stand in Panjim is in a pathetic condition. There is no queue system but one big mob trying to board the bus. During the rush my wife fell down however she was lucky not to come under the wheels of the bus.
Boarding a bus at KTC bus stand has literary become a mini-stampede! Imagine women and men fighting to enter the bus. Would those people do the same in their homes or in temples?
KTC should install barriers to educate people on how to board a bus. This might be difficult at first but eventually, I am sure, everyone will realise it is for the benefit of the commuters. In the rush, boarding a bus is so slow that six people try to enter at the same time.
However, if there was a queue system with one person entering at a time the whole process would have been easy, effective and fast.
To add to its woes, the KTC bus stand is facing acute shortage of dustbins which has resulted in people littering in the area.
If more dustbins are placed at regular intervals, littering would be reduced by over 90 per cent.
