For the last so many months there has not been a single day where I do not experience the overcrowding of Old Goa bus on my way to home after my college.
The buses to Old Goa are always in a rush and the number of standing passenger exceeds the limit which originally is eleven standing. The buses take the Ponte De Linhares bridge (long causeway connecting Ribandar to Panjim) which again is violating the rules by not following the correct route. The bridge itself is scary because of the Mandovi river on both of the sides with no proper railing system. So, the overcrowding of bus often makes it slanted to the river side because of the exceeding bus weight limit, plus the reckless driving evokes a sense of fear in passengers’ mind.
Why does Traffic police do not catch these buses till now? After implementing all the present road safety rules, why do these buses always escape, is the question to be asked.
So my concern is that overcrowding and rash driving may cause risks to the people present in the bus, to the other drivers’ passing by and also to the driver in the bus. It’s high time now, I request authorities concerned to look up to this situation.
