Evict squatter families
Of late many squatter families have encroached upon the Margao-Ponda highway and the Osia commercial arcade junction. By day they sell balloons, toys etc. and also use the road surface for sleeping and cooking, complete with folding beds and gas cylinders. The families defecate in the nearby greens making the place stink, their toddlers roam about in the vicinity and there is every likelihood one of them being hit by fast moving vehicles on that stretch.
Petty thefts have also been reported in the area. The Margao Municipal Corporation in conjunction with the police should act with alacrity to evict these squatters and others near the Aga Khan Garden lest they defile the landscape permanently.
