While I note some progress in the periodic collection of dry waste at Colva, there is still a very serious shortcoming i.e. I understand (confirmed with the local authority) that diapers, sanitary pads and some other items etc are not supposed to be collected by the concerned party that is entrusted to collect waste?
I have personally noticed that garbage bags with the latter items are left behind by the garbage collectors.
So the question to the Colva Panchayat is, what should Colvenkars to do with this concerned waste i.e. do they burn it and pollute the air, bury it and pollute the soil/groundwater etc or throw it by the road side/field or just anywhere!
If we are still not meeting even the basic standards of garbage collection, why are construction licences for mega dwelling units still being given?
Lastly, is this the situation of incomplete garbage collection, in other village panchayats of Goa as well?
