There are so many dilapidated buildings in and around Margao town which are on the verge of collapse due to inherent structural defects, water seepage, age, disuse or lack of maintenance.
The Margao Municipal Corporation building itself needs structural rehabilitation as well as the Communidade building down the road. An abandoned commercial building near the Margao flyover has vegetation and trees growing all over it, parts of the balcony railing have fallen on pedestrians and vehicles plying on the road below.
The dangerous structures should be razed down and the ones which do not have major defects should be structurally strengthened and reused. Why is the government not taking action on this? Is it waiting for a major tragedy to happen before it wakes up from it’s slumber?
