At any given time, the traffic movement and pedestrian crossing at the Mapusa Tar Junction needs the attention of the Traffic Police – be it morning, noon or night — as the traffic moves in all directions — straight, left turn, right turn, and criss-cross. The traffic police men posted at this busy junction perform their duty by stationing themselves at ground level, and hence most of the time cannot be seen by the motorists who multi-lineups especially at peak hours to move ahead of the other (the two-wheelers in particular).
This junction indeed needs traffic signals, but considering the fact that the work is in progress to construct an under pass / fly over, approach roads / road widening, etc, it would be appropriate if the Traffic Cell could consider providing makeshift pedestals (with cover) for the Traffic Police to be at an elevated position so that they can be seen in the first place. This position will surely enable them to control the traffic with authority and respect to his orders, from both, the motorists and pedestrians too.
