An incident of a child being bitten by a stray dog at Aquem once again brings to the fore the dangers the general public face due to such attacks. If it is a rabid dog such a bite could prove fatal. The process of catching the stray dogs and sending them for sterilisation needs to be accelerated. These stray dogs could be roaming on the streets in search of food during the pandemic. Since the hotels are closed, these dogs may not find much food to eat from the dust-bins or garbage.
Out of hunger these dogs could be attacking people. Stray dogs roam in packs and attack the unwary pedestrians. The civic bodies and panchayats along with the NOGs need to work in tandem to free our streets of this lurking danger. The dogs after sterilisation also need to be vaccinated so that they are free from rabies.
