MARGAO: Citizens are facing hardships and lengthy delays as the Salcete sub-registrar’s office printer has stopped working since early September. A major problem is the unavailability of services like certified copies to the public.
“Since September 12, 2023, the printer in the office of the Sub-Registrar of Salcete has not been working. Hence, no certified copies of documents are being issued,” said Adv Antonio Clovis Da Costa, the former President of the South Goa Advocates Association.
While various types of applications and processes of the registrar offices are now available online, the inability to provide the certified copies becomes a hindrance and forces the applicants to visit the office on several occasions for the same work.
Citizens also questioned why the issue is not being handled on priority basis and demanded that there should be a technical team in place to resolve all such issues including problems related of internet connections.
Upset with the situation, citizens lament that it is common for the officials at the registrar office to ask the citizens to run from pillar to post to get the required documents or make corrections but that when it comes to issues affecting the speed of the registrar office, the public is being taken for granted.
