On a recent visit to Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, I was extremely distressed to see the decrepit condition of the building. A centre of cultural excellence and host to tiatr, debates, dance and music shows, open air exhibitions, book reading sessions, concerts and conferences, have fallen into utter neglect.
Leaky ceilings, damp walls, moss covered pergolas, peeling plaster, dirty toilets… the works. Agreed that COVID-19 pandemic has played spoilsport but a place of State importance should be maintained in proper condition.
I doubt if town folk will patronise it ever. I myself was saved in the nick of time from falling plaster by an alert security guard. May I appeal to the esteemed managing committee to take urgent action and restore this jewel to its former glory.
