MARGAO: Following complaints by the citizens over the lack of parking space outside the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane intervened and parking space was made available to those visiting the hospital.

Earlier, the vehicles, especially two-wheeler were parked on the national highway in front of the hospital as they were being denied access to the parking area. This had led to frustration amongst those visiting the hospital either to bring in the patients or see patients admitted in the hospital.

It was also creating traffic-related problems on the national highway and with low visibility during the rains, the commuters had complained about the risk of accidents taking place as the width of the highway is narrow.

On Tuesday, the parking space behind the hospital was opened up. However, due to the rains there is a lot of waterlogging in the area. There were similar complaints last monsoon as well.
